Welcome to Nerdy Ontario

The idea for Nerdy Ontario happened over a decade ago. I was trying to figure out if my favourite author was coming to Ontario, and I thought "I wish there was an easy way to look that up". The original thought was to somehow list every author IN THE WORLD and track them like people follow musicians. For obvious reasons this never occurred. The idea came back to me in the spring of 2026. I had multiple friends invite me to different events with them, and I thought "Why hadn't I heard of this?". Why hadn't I heard of the fantasy ball in Toronto? Or the Ren Faire 15 minutes from my house. Lastly it was when friends from Ohio who invited me to attend Yeti-Con with them did I finally say "enough is enough, it's embarrassing that I don't know what's happening around me".

Once I started researching, I decided that if I was going to be doing this for me, I should do it for everyone. I started posting the events I could find on Instagram. Perhaps maybe someone else would want to see it. Then it exploded it. I had people from Windsor to Ottawa, Niagara to Thunder Bay following me and letting me know what events are close to them. I hadn't planned to make a website until 2027, but clearly it was going to be needed.

The term "nerd" is vague, and I really enjoy it that way. While to me I focus on attending events with books, faires, comic-cons, and gaming, it's fun to see the collectors, anime, crafters and so much more be proud of their geeky side.

It's only been 3 months, but I've made incredible friends with people in my DMs daily sending me events. With the vendors and event planners giving me suggestions. With the attendees excited that I made their life easier.

I hope to continuous this for years and years. Bringing a small bit of joy to the Nerds of Ontario. Making the Geeks' lives easier. Thanking for coming on this journey with me.
